OIL PRODUCTION

Oil production is fundamental to the industrial society of the 21st century. The crude oil trapped in the ground is associated with gas

The crude oil trapped underground is associated with gas and water, and is kept there under high pressure. When the well is put on production after drilling, the pressure level in the reservoir is determined by the flow rates of the oil extracted - how far the oil will rise unaided to the surface under its own pressure. If pressures are high, the oil is forced to move to the bottom of the well and flows upward. It does so through a production pipe or "tubing" of 5 to 10 centimeters in diameter, which is lowered when drilling is completed and properly installed. The TUBING is joined to the tubing by special packers that sometimes also serve to isolate different producing layers.

The production control is carried out at the surface by means of the "Christmas tree" composed of a series of VALVES that allow closing and opening the well at will, and where the upwelling is regulated by means of a small orifice whose diameter will depend on the production regime that is desired for the well.

When it reaches the surface, the crude oil - mixed with gas in solution - is pumped to a processing plant, which separates the gas from the oil and sends it to storage tanks. Genco7 supplies several high quality CAMERON valves designed for oil production such as NAVCO SPHERICAL VALVES.
