Description

The BARTON 224C compact differential pressure unit (DPU) is a lightweight compact sensor that incorporates a rupture-proof bellows in a common head design housing. It has an exceptionally fast response time, is self-draining and has a built-in temperature compensation.

The BARTON 224C DPU consists of a bellows unit assembly (BUA) and removable pressure housings. inside the BUA, the flexible bellows are secured to a central plate. In double-bellows models, the movable bellows are rigidly connected by a double Valve stem that passes through the central plate. The seats of Valve, in the passage of the central plate, form a seal with the Valves. When entering in contact with the stem of the Valve in the central plate is a drive arm pivoted at the end of a sealed torsion tube. The bellows is filled with a clean, non-corrosive and low-freezing point liquid. A range spring assembly provides tension against the applied pressures.

In operation, pressure is applied to both sides of the bellows. Any pressure difference causes the bellows to move until the spring effect (range springs) balances the force. The linear movement of the bellows (proportional to the DP) is transmitted as a rotary movement through the torsion tube.

In the double-bellows units, if the bellows are subject to a DP greater than the DP rating of the unit, a Valve is closed and "traps" the filling liquid in the bellows, completely supporting the bellows and preventing breakage. As opposed Valves are used, complete protection is provided in any Address.
